Mould board plow + rye cover in continuous years = 80-90% pigweed suppression in Arkansas trials

I'm still curious as to what rye does to suppress pigweed.

Any presentations or data on using cover crops on precision cut fields to add organic matter quickly to the soil. Think we miss an opportunity by letting these newly cut fields sit idle during the winter their first year. We could get a jump on things by planting a cover crop on to these fresh beds

Have worked with the variety 'Mercer' rye here at the PMC on also on field plots in the eastern side of the state. It is a great rye that makes a lot of biomass but will also die very quickly when sprayed / rolled before planting.
