Take it from those in the know.... they went back to the drawing board with dicamba. The products coming out are totally different formulations that will be offered in accordance to the xtend. The 24d stuff is a little further out and may not ever see the light of day b/c of regulatory red tape. There have been many a third party drift study done. This new stuff does not have the drift issues that it once did. Not saying it doesn't at all just not as bad.

That's a very interesting explanation, thanks for the info.

I probably go overboard on my round up percentage in food plots but it works very well for me. My mix killed the stew out of that red vine I took a picture of the other day. I am still going to transplant some and let it grow on my duck blind when I get through building it.

Do we know what is causing these weeds to become resistant to the chemicals? Does wind drift expose them to smaller doses that they can become resistant to? Are there other factors? Just curious and know nothing about this.

Thanks

Using the same chemical over and over and over. Insects become resistant also. And I think getting a small dosage that doesn't kill it will eventually lead to a generation of plants/ insects that are resistant. Kinda like getting the flu shot for us.

Oh, your redvine will be back. It has a root reserve you wouldn't believe. That's why fall application works better.

There is more than one factor that caused some of these weeds to be RR resistant. One is some farmers got a little lazy with the product. Spraying a little less and a little less of the label rate led to the above mentioned flu shot scenario. Also when the paten on Glyphosate went out, that aloud some cheaper glyphos to hit the market. A lot of which came in from china (we all know how well they do things). There are several other factors, but all of those added up to a big problem. Now these resistant weeds are not isolated occurrences, they are on the march and at a fast rate. There are things out there now that the farmer has in his tool bag such as crop rotation, tillage, some new pre emerge chemicals, some very good fall chemicals, liberty products, and the new stuff coming. That is just a few seconds of a topic that is and could be discussed for hours.
