Timber still being cut

Postby Big Sarge » Wed Oct 17, 2012 6:07 pm

It looks like there will be at least 2 more weeks of logging on our lease. Our green fields were used to stack logs in and are trashed. So what should I try to plant in two weeks to try to get some late season hunting in? Oats have seemed to do well in the past. Looking for ideas

I still think you've got options. Most things still have time to get up . Might not be a lush knee deep, but nice tender stuff will keep the deer happy. Hardy stuff like wheat, greens, and the like could give you decent action.

you still have time. I would have whatever you might plant in the ground no later than Nov. 15 though.

You could also plant a few bushels of corn in a feeder. That'll work all winter long :D

I see a lot of rice bran and potatoes planted later than this. Hehe.

I like to plant green fields later than most folks. I like those tender shoots to be there about rut time.
