I think youve got a good idea where your birds are holding, so you dont need a locator call. Get close BUT not TOO close and sit down against a tree. Get you a good slate call and start working on it. Eventually one of the younger birds is gonna come have a look see. Practice your clucking, and purring or you can just take your gun and I will call him in for you.

you stick to singing Joel. You sure did look purdy on TV yesterday. :D :D :D

for real though, Chad, Joel had some good tips. get you a box call. That is an easy call to learn on and will suit you well.

You don't need decoy's, hoot owl tubes, box calls, b-mobile, or any of that other stuff they sell now days! You just need to get a mouth call, 3 shells and a gun and get after them. All that other junk they sell, is a rip off. Try this mouth call out it is one of my favorites and is easy to learn on. Get the leading lady, you won't regret it. And if you can't get the mouth call to sound right, get a Lynch Fool Proof box call, the name says it all! Good Luck!!

H.S. Strut makes a good starter kit. You can get it at Bass Pro, Walmart, or Academy but they typically sell out quick and they don't restock. It got me started last year.

first 5 turkeys i ever killed all i owned was an owl hoot a lynch box call, a hs strut lil duece slate, a borrowed featherflex hen decoy and a borrowed 12 gauge from my dad with a modified choke 2 3/4" number 5's. you don't need much, keep it simple to start with. just a lot of patience. when you think you need to move sit there for another 30 minutes. think about where the birds might come from and don't move at all. good luck :D

i can't say i know much of what to do when it comes to killin turkeys but i can damn sure tell you what not to do.

good luck and put in your time scouting your birds before season starts. scouting is half the hunt afterall
