They gobbled good and acted right for the most part yesterday. I shot a 2 year old and my buddy shot a real good one. They were quiet today tho.

had one in sights at 7:15 Saturday am... @30yds shot him and he flopped then off he went never to be seen again. I shot my mossberg 835 about 8 times yesterday trying to figure out what happened and the damn thing is actually shooting about 8'' high at around 30yds. My best guess is i only clipped him with the lower strays from my main center pattern...

I was pissed...

Struck one up Saturday morning from a road about 8:30. By the way he was moving I thought I knew what was going to happen and it did. Tried to get as far off the road as possible and call him straight to me and instead he did as I expected and walked out in the road, saw my truck and eased off.
Went back in Saturday morning and got on three that were burnign it up like it was April. They flew down to about 20 hens and I spent the morning chasing, trying to head them off. No luck.

All in all a great first weekend albeit a kill.

Lock jaw were I was. Heard slim reports from lots of places. Not much gobbling yet from what I've gathered.

Birds in gun range Saturday and Sunday morning early right off the limb and then silence and henned up rest of day, neither set could get shots on camera...would've killed both sets if not filming.

My observation on that property (in Adams Co)...birds weren't really ready and the ones that were had EVERY hen in the area. I watched couple different longbeards roaming alone just feeding, no strutting no responding...then I watch couple others strut for 5-6 hours with about 20 hens in a 50 acre field. In both cases, gobbled half dozen time in tree and once or twice on ground and zilch rest of day...not real exciting hunting this weekend after about 7:15 am.

kilt one Tuesday. gobbled twice. once at 300 yards, once at 150, then died at 20. 1 1/8 inch spurs, 10.5 inch paint brush and bottomed out a 20 pound spring scale. big ole tom. only been twice, but been on birds every hunt. they aren't ready yet, but they are getting there.

Only been once. Weather has been bleak. I am hoping this weekend, they turn it on. I will take clear, cold and calm over warm, windy and rainy any day.
