for turkey hunting ONLY, would you rather a shorter barrel or longer one and why?

I know people say that barrel length doesn't matter anymore, but shooting a 21" barrel and a 26" barrel, same choke, and same load...... There is a big difference between two I had..... I prefer a 26" barrel bc that's what's on my 11-87..... It's my all around shotgun, and it'll do a fine job.... Maneuvers good and throws a good pattern.....

Shorter. I like 23-24" for turkey's. With today's loads and chokes, you don't need grandpa's 30" full barrel A5 to kill turkeys. I remember 2 specific hunts where a long barrel cost me a bird because I had to sit down quick with a sapling right in front of me...funny how those birds know which side to come in.

I've used a 26" and a 23". I doubt I ever go longer than 23" again.

I'm done using my duck gun in the turkey woods. It's really long though, 28", and has been fine. But I'm tired of lugging the dang thing around and hate how hard it is to maneuver once I sit down. I'm also done accepting mediocre patterns. So I'm turning my old 870 into a turkey gun and ordered a new stock and barrel for it. Haven't shot it yet, but having a 23" barrel feels WORLDS different from what I'm used to. In a good way.
