New Scope

Postby cwink » Tue Sep 28, 2010 1:07 pm

Looking for a new scope for my 7-08. I have a Sliver 3x9x40 on it now and it is a great little scope, but I want something with more magnification. I have been eyeing the Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 for about 300.00. It seems like it is about the biggest magnification I can find in a Silver scope. I see others out there bigger, but since my gun is stainless I want a silver scope and can't seem to find larger magnifications in silver.

Anybody else know of any other options besides Nikon, I know Leupold has a similar one but its 700.00 bucks. Got to be something in between the two.

I ended up getting a deal on a matte black Buckmaster off of ebay and happily put it on my .270 ss barrel. I wasn't going for looks just functionality and $$$

Check out Nitrex scopes on Natchezz Shooter Supply. I bought one to go on my 25-06 and it's the best scope I have ever looked through, hands down. They are the same scope as the Weaver Grand Slam. They come with a rebate right now and you can get a 3-15 or a 4-20 for about 250 bucks. I got mine with the ebx reticle and it is spot on out to 400. Check the review out one them. http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthr ... er=2056680

Thanks, thats the kind of info I am looking for. I will check into them. The other reviews I looked at all sounded good as well.

Take a look at these. They market themselves as competition for Swarovski. I don't think I would go that far, but I have the 8.5-25x50 Eradicator on my .204 and it easily rivals, if not exceeds, the quality of my Bushnells and Nikons. From a quality/price standpoint they can't be beat!

Well I went with 2 new scopes.. :D The first is the Nitrex TR2 BDC 4x20x50. It was 406.00 shipped from Natchez Shooters supply but has a 100 dollar rebate. The other is a Nikon Monarch 3-12-42 BDC. I really like the Nikon scopes, but the Nitrex is really a nice scope also. Both scopes are really clear, I like the reticule on the Nitrex better than the Nikon, but I like the forgiving eye relief on the Nikon a little better than the Nitrex. I put the Nitrex on my 243 as a great deer/coyote combo gun and then Nikon on my 7mm-08 as my primary deer gun.

They apparently have an awesome following, but I just do not understand these multi-reticle, BDC scopes. What's the point of multiple "crosshairs" if you can really only perfectly zero 1?
