Muzzel Loader ?

Postby BPT » Wed Jul 06, 2005 8:32 pm

Guys, im thinking of getting into a little black powder hunting this year and was wondering what the best gun for the money is. Im not trying to spend a fortune because i dont deer hunt alot, just when im waiting on duck season or fed up with the ducks. I know that Thompson Center and Knight are probably the favorites but i just wanted to hear what yall have and how you like it. Thanks

I have a knight wolverine II. I had to replace the scope on it. It just simply wouldn't shoot worth a crap. Got to checking things out and discovered it was the scope. now it will shoot hole in hole at 50 yards, can't beat that. gun cost approx $300. SS barrel and Mossy oak break up stock. Killed a javelina with it in tx at 108 yards hit it right behind the shoulder exactly where I aimed. Great gun.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

man dont go spend alot of money. i bought mine at basspro about 5 years ago for $99. all these other guys buy these guns that can shoot 150 to 200 yards. might as well shoot the ole rifle. mine shoots fine up to 100 yards. i like them about 50 though. i have a traditions.

and for all you that have to blackpowders that shoot 150 to 200 yards i have nothing wrong with that but they might as well let you hunt with a rifle. its suposed to be a sport. the sport is getting the game as close to you as you can before you kill it.

I shoot the Encore. I have had the Knights and CVA's. I wouldn't take anything for my Encore. Not just for the fact of the muzzleloader, but the options of changing barrels.
