My favorite one that I use is an API bow climber. It will wear you (at least me) out climbing with it thought. My dang arms will get tired much higher than 15 feet.

I personally don't like an ole man, for a couple reasons:

1.) if you put it on a tree that is not a huge, and put your back to the tree, the stand will pinch the crap out of your sides,(even though I have heard that they fixed this problems on the newer models....) 2.) I don't feel safe in one. I have owned 2 old man tree stands, and both slipped multiple times, and twice my safety belt is the only thing that saved me.

One thing I do love about them is how flat they fold down to, but for me, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages when it comes to an old man.

I have 3 ole mans, 1 summit, and 1 API grand slam. I would take my grand slam over any of the others any day, mainly because it's quieter, lighter, and goes around bigger trees than the others. :D The only drawback (and all stands have at least one...) is the plastic on the chain gets cracked over time and makes alittle noise hanging on the tree while going up/down. BUT...I could possible sit in the stand all day because its so comfortable. Not true w/ the others

Don't know a/b replacing the chain, but there is a company out there that you CAN replace the chain.

My primary climbers are the new style ole man and a API Grand Slam supreme. If I am hunting somewhere where I know I will be moving around alot I will usually take the ole man. It is more packable and easier to move through the woods. The downside to it is the fact it is not nearly as comfortable as the API and it won't comfortable go around bigger trees. I can sit all day in my API and never even think about because its so comfortable.

Both are great stands but overall I prefer the API.

I like my ole man. Never hunted out of the API's however. might be worth a look if so many people like em. I have been hunting out of my ole man for SO long that I am extremely comfortable in them. I know how to move, when to move etc etc.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

i used to hunt out of an API grand slamm a lot, but I have moved on to lock ons since i hunt private land. Just put it up and its there to climb. You can go past that fork in the perfect tree with one of those.
