The first pic is an 11 pt my buddy shot the morning after I shot the nice 8 the afternoon before. I thought I had missed him since the shot was about 350 yds but I never saw him come out of the cutover and could smell that tarsal gland smell really strong so I decided to go back the next morning while my buddy hunted. Dang yotes had found him and made quick work of one entire side. Special thanks to my buddy for allowing me to get a crack at that one and I saw some really nice bucks I passed later on.

The second buck was my biggest of the year and was shear luck. No clue he was in the area. First time I had hunted the area and climbed a tree and decided it wouldn't work so I climbed down to move. Twisted my ankle so bad I almost threw up. I was mad and could feel my ankle swelling and popping. Hobbled 20 yds and was determined to finish the afternoon hunt. This fellow was in a thicket rubbing a tree when I saw him. Had I not moved I would have never seen him. I would lose him off and on for 20 minutes but knew he was a good one and vowed to take the first shot I had as he was the first of the year. The last time I caught him moving he was going away and I had seconds to take a shot. All he gave me in the clear was his hindquarter. Shooting the 300 I knew I could at least break him down. I bolted another round and got ready. And eventually he stood up and hobbled a few steps and exposed his neck and that was all I needed.

Last buck was on a new lease that was hit hard last year by that crew. Very few deer but this one deer kept messing with me and I vowed to get him. He was very nocturnal but slipped up on my cams occasionally. He had a very wide range. Well the next to the last day he messed up and came in with 4 smaller bucks. He wasn't the biggest but he was the one I worked for and for that area he was a good one.

My season as a whole wasn't great. Deer sightings were way down but I killed 2 really nice bucks and one decent one that I was proud of. All in all I can't complain but was really lucky to get the palmated drop tine deer and the old 8. And the pics with my daughter are priceless. She would always ask where was the big buck every time I came home and wouldn't miss a pic for anything. Can't wait till she can pow pow her own big buck!!!!
