How to skin a deer with a golf ball

Postby regishay » Wed Feb 19, 2014 4:10 pm

Interesting what some folks come up with. I could see where this could come in handy if you didnt have a skinning rack, but you still have to gut them.

I don't golf, so i have just used a rock in the past. Interesting that they chose to do it with the deer on the ground instead of hanging.

We were skinning deer with a golf ball and tractor back in the 80's. We ran dogs and cleaned and gutted every deer killed. We did our own processing and used just about every part of the deer. It makes quick work of snatching the hide off if you have a good stable skinning rack.

I've seen the tenderloins removed without gutting. With the deer hanging upside down enough of the gut supportive tissue is cut so that the bowels sag allowing access to the tenderloin.

If you look at the video I posted back during hunting season, you can see me do the cuts he is talking about.
