Well my season is done

Postby mshunter77 » Fri Nov 15, 2013 7:42 pm

Just found out we will have loggers starting to cut in a couple of weeks. So looks like my season is done. Worst part is I did not get to take my daughter up this weekend and I was really hoping to get her a deer this year. Well if I did not have bad luck I would not have any luck.

You would be surprised how little logging effects the deer sometimes. Don't write if off just yet.

Really! Get in there before the logger show up! You might see something you've never seen before! One of the best deer I ever killed was right beside where they were logging! All those fresh cut tops are like a magnet to deer. They will be in there like flies just as soon as the loggers leave for the day! A lot will even hang around while the logging is going on if its not to much traffic in and out.

I have hunted areas before that were being logged and had success but they were big areas. This is a smaller tract of land and with the way it is laid out I don't think it bodes well for us. Not to mention we need to pull all of our stands and the food plots are probably going to be destroyed. I would feel better about it if i was not 3 hours away . Then I could make some quick hunts before and after they start or quit for the day. Hopefully they get done quickly and move out quickly.

Like it was stated earlier.... Deer are drawn to a cutover! I would rather hunt a cutover than just about anything! I've sit and watched a skidded and cutter working while I watched deer! Go check out the roads the morning after they first start cutting..... There will be deer tracks EVERYWHERE.....
