Are wood ducks legal right now? Have 18-20 in a creek, next to my stand, and wouldn't mind having one or two in the freezer.

Yes woodies are legal. I know you can kill two but THINK you can kill three. I hate cleaning them so haven't shot one in several years.

So now this forum is down to people who wonder if wood ducks are legal with replies of guesses as to what the limits are. What have we become?

I haven't gone yet, since I try to get a nice buck before I pick up the shotgun. However, while sitting in a tree next to the scatters this past week, I did not hear much shooting. On New Year's Eve, a Saturday, I think I heard 8 shots. Usually sounds like a war in there that weekend.

I've become a dull deer hunter until we have ducks enough to hunt. Thermacells and wood ducks aren't that appealing yet. End of the wee looks promising though

Just got back from Arkansas. Hunted with guys from southern Missouri. If you are waiting for ducks go ahead and give it up. Not happening this year.

I hunted on our place Thursday for the first time this year. In the morning I saw a total of around 10 wood ducks and one group of 4 mallards, and they were high. In the afternoon, I sat on a hole from 230-430 and then climbed into a tripod next to the same hole, but kept my eye on the sky and I did not see or hear one single mallard from 230-530.... and only saw a handful of wood ducks. Normally this slough holds hundreds of wood ducks and at least several dozen mallards on any given day after the 1st of December. We were slow to get water this year, so I didnt expect to see a ton of birds, but I did expect to at least SEE some high birds or birds moving to and fro. It looked more like what you would see on an early October day in the woods.
