Too hot anyway. Birds might not mind it but I sure do.

Didnt hear a shot either Friday or Sat morning at all, and we usually hear a fair amount. A good number of early wood ducks, but limited number of mallards. No geese moving around either. Lady bugs out the ying yang and lots of mosquitos. Need a couple of weeks.

Did not pull the trigger Fri or Sat, so we cut our losses and came home.

4 groups at camp went out. My group knocked down 13 - lots of bwt, another shot 5 man limit, 3rd group had 12, 4th had 7. Not many mallards. Saturday went over to LA and grinder out a 2 man mallard limit. Sunday I slept in after the Egg Bowl celebration...

No ducks to speak of on any of our places. It will get good, just needs a couple weeks and some cold weather.

Yeah, I never get too excited about the first two weekend hunts. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than mostly disappointed. But, I will be there this weekend, just in case!

My youngest son fired the only shot opening day and killed a banded green head around gwood. Lucky rascal. He got a woody band last year. I've hunted 40 years to get 2 bands and he gets 2 in 2 years. Yeah I'm jelly.
