Ducks and seed corn?

Postby jkmjr » Mon Dec 15, 2014 1:13 am

I have a duck lease in the delta and the farmer I lease from has some left over seed corn he told me I could have. I did not pay attention to the particulars on the bag but the kernals are pinkish/purple. It has been kept dry and looks to be in good shape. It is several hundred pounds. I just put up 10 wood duck boxes on my property in SW Ms. and was wondering if the seed corn could be fed to wood ducks without causing them issues. I have a pretty good population right now and was going to try and keep them around so they will use the boxes this spring. My first thought is the coloring is some sort of fungicide and probably not good for wildlife to eat. What say you farmers? BTW we do not ever shoot the woodies.

I actually googled it. I guess I did not look hard enough. Thanks for the info.
