Headed to NODAK in November

Postby billjohnson » Wed Oct 01, 2014 9:47 am

Finally going to hunt the Northern Prairie for the first time in my life this fall. I hunt the Southern Prairies regularly as I guide out in OK. Going with a group of guys from MN that I have guided out there many times. They are some of the best waterfowlers that I've ever been around and absolute field hunting specialist. Going a little later in November so we may get frozen out but I don't even care. Just looking forward to the experience and I'm sure that there will still be geese around even if the ducks have moved on thru. Like all waterfowling its a crapshoot!

Envious here. I haven't been in several years. Went every year there for a while.

Take some quality binos. You'll use them more than the gun! Standing flooded corn and fresh planted winter wheat (especially the low spots with water) can make for some great hunts. Be safe and have a big time, guys! Don't drive in the fields.
Never assume.

Been a while since I have been, but you will enjoy it if nothing but the scenery change. Best of luck!

In Fargo now waiting to fly home. Northern Flight Outfitters was great. Mild temps have not pushed new birds in yet. Our guide worked hard and put us on some birds to shoot. Great time!! Y'all have fun!!
