Sugar Bowl Headcount

Postby Po Monkey Lounger » Sun Dec 06, 2015 3:58 pm

Ok fellow Rebs, it has only been 46 years since our last Sugar Bowl appearance. In 1970 I was in the 3rd grade, with my biggest concern on NYD being running out of black cat firecrackers and Roman candles.

This will be my first trip as a Reb fan. Already had nonrefundable tickets and room secured and booked over a week ago. Experiencing great joy and relief today.

Who else is going? Hopefully, it won't be another 46 years until we go again. But if so, I doubt that I will be around for the next one.

Cheering for the Tide yesterday from my deer stand was a weird feeling. The next time we go, I would prefer it to be as SEC Champions. But, I'll take it.

Hotty Toddy.

I'll be there with a crew of folks. January 1st is my birthday so a Rebel Sugar Bowl victory would be a great present.

How hard do you think tickets will be to come by down there?

Congrats to Ole Miss (and the board guys that support them). Truly a great year and well deserved Sugar Bowl berth. Po Monk, I agree with you this will not be the last. If Freeze keeps the trajectory of the program, this might become downright common. Pretty amazing what he and his staff have accomplished in such short order.

What he has done has rivaled what Saban did at LSU and Bama and what Meyer did at Florida.

I had my doubts, but I think Freeze has defied the odds and has built a sustainable football power that has high ambitions year in and out for a long time to come. As stated in another thread, I think Ole Miss has firmly supplanted LSU as the West #2 team. If Saban retires after this year, which is a rumor floating around in the State of Alabama I am told, then Ole Miss might become the prohibitive favorite before we know it.

Champcaller, I would get tickets in advance. This will likely be one of the toughest tickets to get for a Rebel game / Sugar Bowl in a long time. There is an army of older Reb fans ( even older than me),who have waited a long time for this opportunity, that are going to march to NOLA/Sugar Bowl game in great numbers --- I would guess approx 50k Rebel fans at game, even more in New Orleans.

This will be an epic party in NOLA. Don't miss it!!!

I would try Stubhub --- has to be some Baylor fans trying to unload tickets. Also try UM ticket office if a season ticket holder. Alumni Assoc and/ QB club may eventually have some package deals for tickets, rooms, trans, if not already.

I have had my room booked for a week and waiting on my tickets from Ole Ms ticket office. Going to the Sugar Bowl has been a dream for many years.

Po Monk I agree I expect around 30-40 thousand Rebels at the game.
