Anybody remember the final straw for Croom?

Postby Smoke68 » Tue Apr 28, 2015 9:35 pm

It looked something like this......

Me personally? I'd give Cohen another 2 years regardless. Fella made it to the CWS Championship Series. You don't hear anybody questioning Butch T's job. And our pitching has fallen apart this year every bit if not more than our hitting. I'd say our field play is the bright spot without question.

BUT, the alum will not tolerate losing to Ole Miss. Especially in baseball. Especially like that. Goodness I hope these schlackings on these young pitchers turn out some mature fellas next year. I got to meet Dakota and Levi a few weeks ago; seemed like some good kids and would love to see them do well.

Lot o rumblins in da bulldog camp

And let me say this.. We're hitting 0.87
When we load da bases

Need some mashers ain't got none

Maybe butch should let some of these pitchers
Work through some the tuff stuff. I mean A pitcher gets in a little
Trouble and boom.. They hook'em and bring in the next guy.
Let these guys work through some of this . Make'em compete and build some character

Wtf do I know I shoot spoonbills
"Ya ever work beef Billy?"

The bases loaded curse lives strongly within this squad. It's been State's M.O. for years. You want to get us out ? Load up the bases with no outs or one out. We will not score anytime.

I went last night and had to leave by the 7th inning. That was ugly from start to finish. Keep hoping they're gonna turn the corner eventually but it's just not happening. With LSU coming this weekend, it looks to be more the same. Wish there was an answer to the skid but its a lot of different things I'm afraid. I kinda agree with what was said above about leaving the pitchers in and letting them work through it. The coaches are pulling them as if they're trying not to give up runs in the bottom of the 9th in Omaha. Let em gain some experience for next year. As far as hitting with runners in scoring position...give em a tennis racket...

If we score 5 runs this weekend, I'll be surprised.

this is knee jerk...I don't care one way or another, but from outside looking in, Cohen has earned his keep. He doesn't deserve to be ran off after this season regardless.

I'm not on board the "Cohen's gotta go" train. You're gonna have down years because the game is cyclical like all the rest. Hopefully they'll right the ship and get back to where we've been in the past. We can't afford to have everybody jump ship after a season like this. It's tough to watch but you can't tell me it'll be like this every season. As camlock said in the other thread, the game has changed so hopefully the coaches will make the right kind of changes to get us back where we need to be.

If the team stinks it up next year too he should be on the hot seat. If there is improvement he is good for another couple of years. As long as he doesn't have two bad years in a row with no signs of improvement he will be fine. But three years without a decent run in the regionals it will be time. Don't need an empty brand new stadium.

As everyone knows I am a Ole Miss grad but a huge Ron Polk fan. You say the Alum won't tolerate losing to Ole Miss? If Ole Miss wins 2 of 3 next weekend it will make 3 straight years the Rebels have taken the season series against the Dogs. I know its a big IF but if it happens will the seat get hot?

I do not think Cohen is on any type of hot seat, but he better recruit some diversity in skill sets if he wants to compete from here on out. Bigwater has brought up 2 very good points...except for Rea, our team is a bunch of clones. They are .265 hitters who play great defense and have lots of speed that may or may not score you an extra run. Our pitchers are not overwhelming type of guys. They throw low in the strike zone and encourage soft contact; which worked in the initial BBCOR era with the high seamed balls. I was a huge Polk fan, but agreed that Cohen was better pick for the new coach than was Raffo. I did not like Cohen's initial attitude, but I do think he had a plan to recruit and play a certain kind of player. I believe Cohen and Thompson put all their eggs in one basket on the "let them hit it/play good defense/win 1 run ballgames" strategy. Look at rosters from years past and look at the diversity in skill sets. Also look at how many AL & MS boys were on those past teams
