2011 Moral Victory Standings - Final Standings - MSU wins!!!

Postby webbmaster » Thu Sep 01, 2011 8:40 am

I encourage all nominations to be presented in this thread. I will seek input from those I feel worthy, but in the end I will make the call. Help is needed because certain fanbases have a knack for claiming moral victories, and I often lose interest in the countless threads about second and third tier schools.

Here are the final standings. See final post for thoughts

Mississippi State - 6
Ole Miss - 4
Aubrun - 4*
Arkansas - 3
Bama - 2
LSU - 1
Florida - 1

Ole Miss - Post from the "Nice Ranking" thread
I was talking to a guy just minutes ago that was telling me the paper had Ole Piss as the number 2 Offense in the SEC under Bama!!!

Post from swamprooter in the "Ole Miss Commercial" thread
We have been blessed with a lot of young men that were champions in their own right. I guess Champion is in the eye of the beholder.

Post from PML after the BYU loss...
At least the Rebels' loss to BYU was not as bad as last year's loss to Jacksonville State.

Auburn - Athletic Director Jay Jacobs sent out an email recently. Here it is:
“Make no mistake about it—the future of Auburn football is bright. Yet the reality is we will experience some growing pains this year. Only nine players remain from the 2007 and 2008 recruiting classes, the last two classes signed before the Chizik Era began. Of those players, only three have ever started. That is a stark contrast to last season when 24 seniors led the way.
While few expect Auburn to make noise in 2011, Coach Chizik has said our goal— to win championships—has not changed. The great thing is you can’t measure an Auburn man’s heart. Regardless of how tough a schedule we face and how long it takes our young players to adjust to being thrust into key roles, you can rest assured our team will fight and play with class and integrity."

Gene Chizik proclaims that Aubrun has the toughest schedule in the nation.

Bama - Multiple media outlets, including "dreamy" ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstriet, have Alabama playing in the NC game.

Mississippi State - southernmallard- not really sure where this moral victory is going. sounds personal, but yet unsure.
You can yell war eagle all you want, and claim y'all won the title all you want, but at the end of the day, we will have chuckle and say yeah but....

Mississippi State - greenheadgrimreaper Even more sad is we should have won against your chitty team.

Mississippi State - CBRADGO good learning experience

Mississippi State - a double from JDGator.
Can Mullen use this game as teaching opportunity to coach up the squad? You're darn straight he will! He will make this memory hurt and bring the pain in practice. You'll see a sharper team going into LSU..................................
Hope they don't drop out of the polls, but maybe if they do we use this as motivation.

Mississippi State - Head Coach Dan Mullen lays this one down after a home defeat against LSU. This also could be in the running for MV quote of the year.
"Might take 15 years but we WILL win a National Championship at Mississippi State." Dan Mullen

Mississippi State- Can't beat em on the field, but we just pissed on your hedges.
(See pic)

Florida - “I felt we was better than them,” Flroida RB Chris Rainey said after the LSU and Bama losses.

LSU --- "LSU has beaten the Cotton Bowl Champions, Orange Bowl Champions, Rose Bowl Champions & the winners of the BCS Champ Game."

Florida - 1

Muschamp's father calls Saban a SOB. That's either a win or a moral victory...or both!

A lot of media types have Bama playing in the NC game. I will consolidate all of them and give Bama one moral victory.

Can't give one with the Muschamp deal. Will have to see how the game pans out and if there is anymore talk afterwards.

I guess ole miss fans will claim one for just being in the top 50 of anything. Your standards are awfully low. Guess that probably explains why you are leading in the standings, and an odds on favorite to win the whole thing come December.

look at the multiple threads that give reasons to bamer fans why auburn's championship is "tainted" although Auburn is still innocent as far as NCAA is concerned...

that should definitely count as 1 for bamer.

You can't give a moral victory for something like that when everyone agrees its tainted.

You're trying to hard. Try to think outside the box. Put your animosity towards me and Alabama away. Think about what might happen if Ole Miss losses to BYU.

no animosity towards you, nor bama. A championship is just that and nowhere in the record books will it say Auburn Champion-but "they might have cheated"

as far as what will happen if ole miss looses to byu... well they get an L in the book and continue to play the remaining games on their schedule. fans will bitch, but whats new, hell that takes place when you win 9 or 10.

dang Howdy Dooty, who said we ( ole miss) would win? Obviously you don't listen much to your Uncle Paul Finebaun. We are not suppose to win a game in the next 3 years. but I bet we don't blow a 4 touchdown lead to lose the big one!

Barn moral victory....Heart of a champion per ESPN front page website on Saturday...Auburn finds a way to come back in the last two minutes to beat the powerhouse that is Utah State. Hello....they gave up 38 points to Utah State and 227 yards on the ground to a WAC team, let me repeat 227 on the ground to a WAC team, good luck in the SEC. I see a lot of moral victories on the plains this year.

Miss State will destroy these fools next weekend, but there just might be another barn moral victory.....

Predicted future moral victories for Auburn:
1) these young players held their own for a couple quarters against that great and powerful MSU offense
2) Tylor Wilson only threw 4 TD's against our defense
3) Clemson is a tough place to play and only losing by 7 shows our talent is coming together
4) Even though Steven Garcia was drunk we kept it close for a half on the road
5) At least Charlie Weis is a fat slob
6) At least our coach knows what sideline to go to after running throug the tunnle like Les Miles, we really shut LSU's passing attack down
7) Houston Nutt always wins one he shouldn't and since we are the defending national champion he had this game circled and our October schedule was tougher than anyone in the country
8) Mark Richt was coaching for his life and we still kept it close in another black out
9) At least we kept Bama from scoring 40.
10) And the ultimate moral victory for the barn this season is..........at least NCAA punishment did not impose a bowl ban so we can still play in the BVAA Birmingham Bowl!
