sorry to hear that, and thanks for posting.

I hunted with an old timer in KS, and he made me feed my dog a snicker bar every time we hunted, for this very reason. He was a doctor and knew the constant cold temps were tough on a dog.

Sorry for your loss,Kris. This post is a great tribute to your hunting partner as it can help other doggies. Sad indeed to loose her that way.

Sorry for the loss. I know nothing will make it better but you have helped a bunch of dog folks out by making us think of something we might have brushed off previously. Never thought about the corn syrup but I'll add that as well. Thanks for being willing to share.

Just a question but will ensuring that your dog eats plenty the night before or that morning help prevent something like this? Just wondering. Have been on some pretty cold hunts already this year and don't wanna mess up.

That is an awful story Kris but thank you very much for sharing it. It' s hard enough to put one down, I can't imagine what you are going though, but I will say a prayer for you.

On the hypoglycemia issue, I have never heard of it and am glad now that I know about it. I will make sure I am always prepared for it in the future.

Dang that was tough to read, so sorry for your loss. I'll be adding a bag of corn syrup to my boat from here on out.
