Drake

Postby mfalkner » Mon Dec 16, 2013 5:33 pm

(Donning asbestos) I just got an email that Drake, the Wildrose dog who has generated so much discussion on this and other boards, passed yesterday at 13.

All other points aside, Drake and Mike exposed a lot of new people to the world of retrievers and dog training. Whatever your thoughts on his approach or results, in my opinion this was good - overall - for the sport.

I've been to public events where Mike would spend hours introducing the dog to kids and showing people some of what a trained dog can do. Maybe he wouldn't have met your personal training standards or whatever, but most of these folks came away impressed and some of them started training their pups. Trained retrievers are good for the now and the future of duck hunting.

So, here's to another good one gone.
