Postby bulldog ducker » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:22 pm

Has anyone done any research on these. I think I may make a purchase soon but I cant make my mind up. I figure most of you are going to say TC but why?

Cavalier apex. Great quality with begara barells and have had lots of people who have had trouble with the encore. Me being one of those, my encore wouldn't group and I sold her.

There's a fella named Mike Bellm who has been involved with the contender/encore scene for quite a while. He has a pretty high opinion of the CVA.

I have a TC Encore in 35 Whelen. I love it. One of my hunting buddies has the new CVA Apex in the same calibur. It is also an excellent gun. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. On a personal note, I think that the TC Encore has noticeably less recoil.

Haven't heard anything bad or good about the Apex but I bought an Encore last year and have taken two deer this year with it. One was 250 yards and the other was 264 yards. Both shots went where I planned. That's plenty accurate enough for me.

I have a .50 cal barrel for the encore and a .223 barrel. The gun will drive tacks at 175 yards with the .50 cal and further than that with the .223. I have no experience with the Apex, but I love my Encore.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one, but TC has a lot more "aftermarket" accessories than the CVA and to me the TC is a better "looking" gun..

I'm assuming that CVA has fixed the problems that they were having with their barrels from the Dikar factory? It's been a few years since I've heard anything negative about them.

Anyone know who has the CVA Apex in stock around Madison/Jackson?

What are they running at a local gun shop? I see they are 490$ on gunbroker in the camo/stainless for a centerfire.

I had one of the first Cva optima pro in 35 wheelen. It shot great but rarely shot. I think they have fixed there problems since then but I traded mine on an encore and had to put the heavier spring and change the extractor out also. My encore shoots ok. Both are good guns go see which one feels the best.

I have called all around the state looking for a Apex and the closest place I can find it is in corinth. I may have to order the one on gunbroker.
