Best laptop and the best place to buy it? Just wanting something to keep up with business and play on the internet?

I bought a cheap HP at office depot as a spare for work. Its now my fulltime laptop. I run word and excel all day with it. Had it 6 months, a virus shut me down completely once, i called HP help line and they walked me thru the fix in about 30 minutes, which i thought was excellent. Its really fast too, faster than my suped up desk top that the computer nerd built at the office and cost no telling what. For $450 i dont think you can go wrong.

Toshiba. Buy direct or carry the price sheet to Best Buy and they'll match it.

I have been looking for a little bit and consulting my computer guy and he said that I should by the best deal walmart/bestbuy I can find. The last one I bought for 400 lasted 4 years for business purposes and it was an acer. He stated that for what I am wanting to work at home and on the road just about any decent laptop will suffice. I have had several recs from guys on here to look at toshiba, but I have had good luck with acer.

I would highly recommend an ASUS. I'm not a computer guru in any sense but I talked to quite a few before I purchased some for my office. They aren't long time computer manufacturers like dell, but they are the company that has made most of the name brand computers internal parts for years. So essentially they make what most computers are comprised of. They just now decided to cut out the middle man and put their name on the outside. Check em out at best buy.

My dell crashed so I went cheap until I find what I really wanted and went to wal mart that day and paid less than 300 bucks for my Compaq and couldnt be happier. Its cheap but works faster than my dell I had and its plastic so no smudges from me and the kids playing on it.

Get familiar with prices and keep an eye on newegg.com. They run a different laptop (or 3) on sale every couple of days. When you see a good price on one you like, buy it, and you can be confident you are paying a good price.

Not to hijack, but while were on computers, I need a good power point program. Any recommendations?
