prayers needed for strangers.

Postby greenheadgrimreaper » Mon May 30, 2011 1:13 pm

We are on the way back from the beach coming about 15 miles out of Meridian and came up on a horrific crash. Several kids and a father are dead. It looks like the mother and one child might of made it. They were headed back from the beach as well. I just got done telling my girlfriend to buckle up, sunburn be damned. They don't put them there for looks. People, buckle your damn seat belts. If not you, make your kids buckle up. Quite a horrific end to a great weekend. Buckle up. Prayers for the family friends in the hours ahead.

I honestly don't know how our first responders work something like that and go home at night. I know it bothers them, but man when you see young kids in that shape it has to rattle anyone. I don't know how long it will take me to get over that.

It does bother ems/first responders. You have to be able to let it roll off. Also the reason alot of ems averages 5 yrs on the job. I have been fortunate enough in my young career to only have responded to one call like that one. Terrible thing prayers will be lifted up for them.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

Man. Some people may think praying for random strangers is not worthwhile; there's an old couple who live on the highway not far from where I work. One day a buddy of mine had dropped by because they were sitting out on the front porch. When he asked what they were doing, she said, "oh, just praying for them folks going down the highway". She meant it, too.

I know Dad changed a lot when he went to med school. I was 8 years old when he started and a senior in high school when he finished his ortho residency and I saw how callous he got over the years. It's got to be a self defense mechanism to deal with all the crap they see in the ER. He keeps doing it because I reckon seeing a little old lady walk again with their new hip offsets having to piece the drunk back together who just killed a family. Then the drunk sues because he walks with a limp. Never mind it a God's grace giving Dad the ability to keep him from losing both legs.

I'm sure this doesn't apply to our resident docs.

Sad to hear
Mom and 3 others died after hitting the concrete bridge. They were from southaven.
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
Cheers, Georgie.
