Fox news says the Alabama National Guard has been mobilized for searches and clean up. Is our National Guard being used?

The Daily Journal (nems360.com) reports at least 13 confirmed in Smithville.

A hunting buddy of mine that lives just south of Smithville said that it started 200 yards from his home. He was able to get into Smithville to view the damage to a business for the state this morning. While we were on the phone, he went silent and I thought the call had been dropped. He was at a loss and could not compose himself. He had gotten his wife and young daughter from their home and had taken them to Amory to ride out the storm. All he could say was how thankful he was that he took the time to go and pick them up. Prayers sent for the whole community.

EMAs are saying 15 confirmed in Smithville, four still missing. Landscape has changed a lot today. Lots of cleanup and everyone pitching in to help each other whether there be a neighbor or not. A picture of one of my neighbors and a friend was found in Alabama today, googled the distance and it measured 170 miles from their home.

Lots of other horror stories out there I'm sure, but one good story is watching everyone come together to help out. I don't know what folks would do without good neighbors....

I just heard on the weather channel that the Smithville tornado was measured an F5.

Yes, it is one of only 3 EF-5's since the Fujita Scale was updated in 2007. The others are Greensburg, Kansas and Parkersburg, Iowa.
