Anniversary

Postby ol'man » Thu Jan 06, 2011 8:22 pm

Hey guys, my wife & I will celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary next weekend(Praise God). I was just wandering if any of you had any suggestions for a nice weekend getaway, within say 3 hrs or so of Jackson. We rented a cabin at one of the state parks last year and had a very memorable time. Any ideas.
Didn't want to post this on the other categories, because I didn't want all the partying ideas.

Well, then, that knocks out my recommendation. I was thinking Nashville, but that would be 5+ hours for you. I took my wife there a couple of years ago. We stayed at Union Station, and were in walking distance of Music Row and plenty nice restaurants, not to mention a very nice restaurant in the hotel. We shopped at Opry Mills, explored downtown, took in a Saturday night show at the Grand Ole Opry, and had breakfast Sunday morning at the Pancake Pantry. We didn't opt to do it, but you can always spend most of a day in the Opry Land Hotel. Stayed there once, too, and it's nice, but I much prefer Union Station. One of my favorite relaxing long weekend trips to take!

Oh, here's another. Birmingham would be about three hours for you wouldn't it? I don't know about their scheduling during the winter, but the zoo is great, and their botanical garden is second to none!

Congrats on 18 years ! Maybe Biloxi or Gulf Shores ( I don't think either would be too far from Jackson) and the Gulf Coast may be the place to be this winter.

Thanks guys, still undecided. We've done the N'ville & B'ham thing and enjoyed both.
