Bought a mallard machine and need info.

Postby gunner » Sat Jan 03, 2004 5:46 pm

Hey guys,

I just got the four decoy system with remote. I have taken it twice, but it hasn't impressed me much. If there is anything, strategy, or tips that go along with the machine that ya'll can supply, it would be greatly appreciated.

It is nice to be able to post again. The EE program at MSU sure is time consuming. Anyways, thanks in advance.

The mallard machine is only going to put some motion and ripples in your spread.

My buddy has one and it floats all over the place. Tried to anchor it with some weight and string but when the machine is turn on and it dips into the water and it sucks the string into the propeller and gets tangled. Plus sometimes the propeller hits the black cord going from the propeller to the floating bucket and damages the cord. He has the remote mallard machine too and I don't like the floating bucket for the battery because it looks like a sore D**K sitting out in the water next to the decoys but that is just my opinion.

decoy

I've experienced alot of those same problems with mine. That is why I was posting to see if anyone had any ideas. I put moss and grass on top of my floating battery kit to make it look like a stubble of grass. I still have a problem with the stupid thing getting in the way though. I am looking forward to days when the wind is not blowing so much.

Thanks all

It is a sad day when a duck hunter looks forward to a day when the wind is not blowing. That is like looking forward to more 70 degree days in January.

I too have a MM, and it does work best on still days. BUT, I certainly don't look forward to still, calm days. A windy day when I can leave all that crap at home and let mother nature move the dekes is always better.
