They didnt hit some free throws at the end that would have sealed it...with that said, I still dont think they "Gave" it away. The Bulldogs played a heck of a game against the #2 team in the nation! Hopefully it will be enough to get us in the tourney!

bottom line is, they left it all on the floor this weekend. if we dont make the tourney, it is our own fault for letting teams like Rider beat us and for being inconsistent all season.

i feel for Varnado and Barry..4 years they have played their heart out for MSU and this was supposed to be the year. nobody talks about what Varnado gave up to come back this year..a scholarship and a chance to make some big bucks in the NBA..my hat goes off to those 2 guys regardless of the outcome!

We still need a new coach. Stans can't win the big games. Screw some moral victories. Stans is a mediocre coach and if the State fans want to continue to win a mediocre West division title then by all means justify keeping Stans around. I'm sick of it. He's had some of the best talent ever in Starkville during his coaching stint here and always get outcoached. I'm sick of him. Not just this game but his whole career is mired in mediocrity. If you set your expectations low then expect this crap to continue to happen. I myself expect a tourney berth every year without having to rely on the SEC tourney to get us in with the talent he keeps on the team.

Didn't figure you did but there are a lot of fans with the Templeton mindset of we should be happy with just competing. Don't follow the other coaches close enough. Plenty of these smaller conference coaches pushing 30 win seasons. Bet they outcoach Stans 9 out of 10 times. I'm sure Byrne keeps a short list of possibilities for every sport.

And I'll say this, I'd rather make the tourney most of the time (which State does) and win SEC championships (Stans has 1) and SEC tournament championships (Stans has 2) than be the doormat year in and year out. Ask Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama fans about that. I'll admit, Ive been one of Rick's biggest critics this year and at times have said he needs to be fired, but I think that the only way you get rid of him is if you can somehow attract a legitimate ballcoach to State. Otherwise, you get the likes of Kennedy and Pelphrey.
