suggestions for house dog
Any one have any suggestions on medium sized dogs that are good to keep inside. Looking for something that would have a protective mentality but be good with kids. I am sure a lot of people will suggest a boxer just wondering whar were some other good choices.

Yeah my fiance has a daschund/terrier mix and he is a good dog. He thinks he is a big bad booty, was just kind of wanting something a little bigger. May just keep him inside and get a bigger dog for outside. Anyone have any experience with american bulldogs. I like them just kind of big for inside.

one of our 3 is a mutt and she is the guard dog. australian shepherd mix with no tail, so we're pretty sure she's majority ausie. if i didn't know her, i wouldn't walk through my door unannounced!! likes to play frisbee and ball and is smart as a whip, so she's easy to train. she's about 50lbs.

A breed NOT to get would probably be a Cocker Spaniel. They tend to have a lot of health problems, and can be a bit 'nippy' with children. (Growing up, we had one for a short while, and that thing was spastic. NOT a good fit for our family.)
Nobody owes you anything.

Hell what's wrong with a lab for a good inside dog? All they do is lay around all day anyway.. Mine does anyway. I've never had any problem with any of my retrievers inside.

I remember getting bit thousands of time by my grandmothers dachshounds (however its spelled). I have an English Springer Spaniel and a smaller framed lab that both stay inside and are great house dogs. I think the spaniel is the best though she doesnt shed much at all and is just a really goos little dog. About 28-30lbs.
