Mosquito tone test

Postby DukGrl » Thu Feb 25, 2010 9:33 am

So as you get older, you don't hear as well (okay, duh). A lot of that has to do with frequency. You (or your kids) can download a ringtone of such a frequency that only a few people can hear it - comes in pretty handy if your phone goes off in class, if it is of the right frequency the teacher probably can't hear it. I think this explains why old folks can't hear their hearing-aids squeal.

See where you fall on the scale...

I can hear the 17KHz but not the 18KHz. I'm 25.

17 made me want to break something. That is annoying. I heard them all and am still hearing them. I don't know how old I am. 28 or 29.

High freq loss big time for me... Working around helicopters for 20+ years has taken its toll, even with hearing protection... :(

14, 16, 17 and 18 I can't hear.

I have Tinnitus so I have 24 hr 365 days ringing in my ears. Been like this since grade school and I graduated high school in '98. Oh and I'm 29 too. :?

Granted you won't do this on a true hearing test, but I can turn my head and the numbers change (I can hear some that I couldn't hear and also not hear some that I could). The hearing tests I've done was a pair of headphones, sound proof area and a little cord with a button. Push the button when you hear the sound.
