I know what he's lost....... He's lost the fear of the newbie that runs in their veins when they see the first "check this guy out post"...... This ol boy has probably got hide like boot leather from all the picking he's been through...... Haha way to hang in there and take one in the chin OSP! Haha

So a few years ago I was at Eagle Lake to duck hunt with a friend of mine. Well I get there about 4:30 am wake his booty up and finally get him out of the house to go. We get the SXS loaded and headed out. Its 5:00 am and he is drinking beer already, (which is perfectly normal for this friend during duck season). Well he says we gotta make a stop and get a dog. A neighbor wants us to take his dog and work him...sounds easy enough. So we load "Blue" in the dog kennel in the back of the SXS and off we go. We have to ride about 2-3 miles through the sloughs and such to a hole off Steele bayou. After 2-3 bud light breakfast beers we arrive. We get our guns and blind bags and head to the blind. The sun is coming up and my buddy asks..."Where is Blue?" I say "I dunno". We walk back to the SXS to get Blue and there is no Blue, no kennel, no nothing. We decide we'd better backtrack and try to find Blue. About a 1/2 mile back there is the kennel in about 1 1/2 ft of water. Well we cannot pick up the kennel cause Blue is a big ol boy. My buddy, opens the kennel and Blue runs smooth over him and knocks him over backwards in the water, (1 1/2 ft deep). Well my buddy lays there for a minute and gets up wondering what just happened. Meanwhile, Blue hightails it back to the house. We go back to the blind and shoot a few ducks before returning to the house for some dry clothes and breakfast. We happened to arrive back before Blue's owner awakened and when we saw him later in the day he asked, "how did Blue do?" and we replied.."Oh he did fine, he just needs a little more work" and he replied, "maybe y'all can take him tomorrow". Needless to say the next morning Blue wanted no part of the kennel in the back of that SXS. I never saw Blue after that and I often wonder how he's doing.

The weather is perfect for going out and hunting ducks (if only it were colder). I am anxious for the seasons to get here. And I know I am gonna miss a lot this year. Soooo, I thought y'all might want to re-read a classic. Enjoy.

And OSP? Thanks for being a truly great sort about all of this.
