training ?

Postby Jeremy Mapes » Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:44 pm

What's the best way to go about getting a dog to deliver to hand. I've got him staying and he'll retrieve all day long, but he doesn't retrieve to hand, he always drops it at my feet. I was told FF before, bit it seems a little complicating. I'm a newbie at retriever training.

Use a long check cord to bring the dog all the way back, and begin teaching the "hold" command.
So many ducks, so little time....

Teach Hold. This can be done on the tailgate of the truck, in the yard, or in the laundry room just get him to be comfortable with a bumper in his mouth. After he sits and holds move to OB with a bumper in his mouth. Should clean the dropping up.

Get with a pro or a knowledgable am to get started on FF.
