hip certification?

What's the price usually run to get this done and does it stay with the dog for it's lifetime or does it need to be done again as the dog ages? Thanks-Jeremy.

It is a one time thing , your vet will charge you for the x-rays and you will send OFA (i think) $45 . Your vet will fill out the form and mail it for you (NOTE) your dog will need to be microchipped and take a copy of your registration with you , also your dog has to be a minimum of 24 months old .

I did not know your dog had to have the chip for the hips cert my vet hasn't said anything but we have just started talking about this so maybe he just forgot...

I know they use to do it without , and the cert would say NPI . But the last 4 i have done they gave me a choice of tatoo or chip , said OFA wanted some way to identify the dog . So with the chip done before the film were taken , the chip showed up in the elbow scan . I guess they want to know they are rating the right dog .

My dogs chip is along his back.......Kinda mid back below the neck......

Thats where they put them in at , BUT they will migrate around under the skin , Troubles last skan showed his around his hip .
