Stump Removal?????

Postby stitch » Thu Mar 19, 2009 10:21 am

Cutting down several large trees in my yard, trying to get rid of some of the shade and grow some grass. I know you can grind the stumps away, but isn't there a chemical you can buy as well? What's the best way to deal with the stumps? Stumps are about 20" in diameter.

Rent a stump grinder, work you tail off, and be done with it today.

Pour the chemicals to them with minimal effort and be stump free in a couple of years.

Where you getting them done for $20 a stump?
No one around here would do my big (3ft diam.) rotten stump for less than $90.
And I mean rotten to, you could go kick pieces off and they wanted $90.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

$35 to $50 a stump is a great price for stumps of any size if you don't want them to chase the surface roots too. I have paid as much as $335 for a 4' stump and a surface root spread of about 20'.

I have been apart of several greens committe meetings where they was bidding out stump/tree removal. I have always seen them in the $40-$55 a stump range. Maybe a little less if you have allot of work for them.

Micah had a listing on here where he had a buddy that had a stump removal service. I don't remember where it was listed on here though.

I'd say grind but if you burn put a 55gal. metal barrel over them and start your fire in the barrel. The barrel will act like chimminey and realy make them burn better.

When you burn them, do you need to wait a few months until they dry out?
