How much rain in north Tally?

Postby mfalkner » Wed Dec 10, 2008 7:34 am

I pulled up some of the gage sites but they don't seem to match the amount of rain we got up here in the hills. We had > 4" most everywhere up here.

Heard 4.8", 5.2" and 5.5" this morning from people who still have their gauges out. River just backing into low areas and sloughs this morning, not up over the main bank. Not sure how much continued rise it will be, alot of rain went through Tallahatchie, Quitman, Panola, Tate, and Lafeyette counties. It will for sure make the chances of the river being above flood stage in late December/January better. Dams were very low. Rain in the forecast for tonight and again early next week. Lots of open fields with oceans of water. Scattered the ducks pretty good, but saw at least a few ducks in near every field. Did not look like quite as much water on HWY 8 as it did up towards HWY 32, but Tippo and the hill creeks will for sure put alot down that way today and tomorrow. Have not been north of 32.
Are we gonna get wet?

Reports from co-workers this a.m. :Got over 5 inches just south of Clarksdale last night. Charleston got 6". Batesville 3.5 inches. :) Now we can complain that the ducks are spreadout!!!!!!!

Lots of the hill creeks in Union and Pontotoc county are out, so expect continued solid flows in Tallahatchie unless they close the spillway at Sardis.
