dog stand
dog stand
what do y'all reccomend for a stand for my new dog mentioned in my earlier post? I've looked at the avery double duty or what ever they call it that will work with a tree or a boat. I hunt mostly flooded timber and beaver sloughs. and if i happen to get a boat, i'll hunt the Tenn-Tom this winter. anyways just wondering what works for you guys.
Re: dog stand
I know several of the guys on here bought the Ruff stand last year, I assume they like it. I just built one for the place I had to have one...

Re: dog stand
I bought a Ruff stand for hunting rice/bean fields, but I have my dads Old Man climbing tree stand at the house that I just ziptie a piece of painted plywood to the bottom portion and then stick some non-skid marine strips on it for traction and use it for a tree stand.

Re: dog stand
I bought an old used climbing stand for 20 bucks and use the bottom of it as a stand. Works great.
Re: dog stand
I did not care for the "Ruff" stand. Great concept, needs work, IMHO. YMMV.
So many ducks, so little time....

Re: dog stand

Re: dog stand
wow just looked at the price on the ruff stand...anybody wanna sell an old treestand? lol
Re: dog stand
GC I agree wit ya on the Ruff stand. It's a good idea, and I like that there's room for me AND Brother to sit! But, it's got quirks, too many for the price IMO. Cant beat the bottom piece of climbing stand for hunting timber.

Re: dog stand
For hunting in shallow water, soy bean fields, rice fields, I like the Ruff Stand. For hunting in timber I like a deer stand with a board/plate attached.
The Ruff comes in handy for folks that have sled blinds with expanded metal walking area. They keep the dog out of the water and also keep them in a place where their toe nails can't get caught in the metal.
Not everyone has the probably of the expanded metal, but out sleds are built with expanded metal. A Ruff stand on the outside of the blind works good for me.
