Not to beat a dead horse about Ducks in the Delta

Postby Dukelane » Sat Mar 01, 2008 10:26 am

I have read in several threads from you guys about how many ducks were in the Delta now. I finally got a chance to go to my camp in Tallahatchie County yesterday to do some stuff. Around 1:30 PM I saw groups of 30 -100 feed the sky out of my brake until dark and I am not kidding. All Mallards too. It was conservatively 3000 -5000 easy. It was a spectacle to see and if you are reading this and have not been to the delta since last day, It is worth the trip. I have been hunting my whole life for these birds and have seen waterfalls of ducks, etc. but nothing like that ever. The MS Delta is absolutely covered up with mallards. I cna only imagine what hunting would be like right now in the AM.

We're having a hard time getting scraps to fill a limit, either way usually out by 730.
Take it easy and if its easy take it home.

Drove from Oxford to Cleveland Saturday and what few fields that still had water in them that were visable from the hwy were full of ducks. Pulled over and took a look with my bino's and it was about 50/50 mallards & pintails.
