One Gun..

Postby cwink » Wed Aug 22, 2007 11:52 am

Ok to follow up on Gator's One Hunt Tread.. If you could have only one gun (not one you have now) what would it be and why.. Mine would have to be a Remington Model 600 in 6MM. Specifically the one my Dad had when I was growing up. I remember he spent hours working on the stock and refinished it himself. I remember the first Deer he took with it when I was in the blind with him.. He ended up giving it to his ex-step son. I have a bunch of other ones from him. But that is the one I want back.. On a good note my Uncle has one just like it, said he was going to leave it to me.. Here is a couple of pics of some shotguns he left me. I would much rather have these than the 6MM.. But still miss that gun..

410 O/U Browning - This one is going to Torcotte with me next time if I can find some affordable 410 shells..

Those are nice CW . I love an o\u. It is my favorite to shoot. I have been shooting my 410 citori the last few weeks on skeet. It is sweet with the 2 1\2 " shells. I will hunt with it opening weekend if I can give up my old favorite 28 gauge.

'Cwinkler'........I understand how you feel about those guns and the 6mm. It's not just a gun.....it's a piece of your family heritage and fond memories with folks that are now, gone. You just can't put a price on that.

I too, have an uncle that knows my appreciation for fine guns and family heritage. He's had a gun (that belonged to a family patriarch) hanging over his mantle for the past 40 years. He has 3 sons and a scad of Grandsons, but he wants me to have the gun. That's a great honor to me.

After it's hung on MY wall for a few decades (giving me a chance to determine who among the Grands and Great-grands is most family oriented, mentally stable and financially secure) - I'll pass it down to the next generation.

All the photos I've put on this thread were just for appreciation of fine art. I did not intend to high-jack this thread. But in response, there's absolutely no price you can put on your family heritage.
I'm sure you will enjoy those guns for many years to come, and connect with your Dad everytime you hold or view them. Thanks for sharing them with us, again.

Here is another one that Albert bean did.. This was a Colt Python my dad had done for my Mom.. Her initials are on the bottom just above the trigger guard.

Any Purdy double. They go for $30K+. You can't go wrong with a gun like that.
This one goes for more like $60,000.
