i have always used ross reels and have loved them. very smooth drag (which is key) and just a very well designed rell. galvin is another company that i like but ross has been my favorite. the biggest thing i can reccomend in a fly reel is LARGE ARBOR! at least a mid arbor reel. makes all the difference. i had a 5 wt ross on a scott rod and loved it same with my 8 wt.

i did have another fly rod that was a st. croix with the orvis battenkill mid arbor reel. i was very impressed with it, espcially for the price.


gator, are you looking to fly fish for (brim, bass, salt, trout etc)

this is what ya need , just got it last week battenkill v clearwater 8 wt
wore out the redfish last weekend with it.
