You know you ain't from no city...
..when your 6 year old calls the 5,000 foot ashpalt runway "the turnrow."
I took her on her first flight today. She took it like a champ. Never complained, hooped and hollered when the left the ground. She was amazed at how green the wheat fields were, how the deer looked from above and the sight of her trampoline in the backyard. It couldn't have been a more perfect day as far as the ride...as smooth as glass. It was a little hazy, but a great day for flying. As much as she enjoyed it, I may have made a mistake and introduced her to the most expensive hobby I can imagine. Lord help me if she ever wants to get her license...I'll have to run dope from Colombia to pay for it all.
Pre-flight meal at BYB. She had to put on the headset and "pretend fly" all the way to Oxford.
At the controls. No need for looking forward when all you can see is dashboard. Gotta bring a boat cushion next time.
If we don't figure out where we are fast, we're gonna have to find a water tower.
Right before she took this pic, she said, "Say cheese, Sardis!"
Tallahatchie River west of Batesville. She said it looked like a huge snake. Notice the oxbow being formed on the right side. The meander has been cut through and silt is being deposited in the ends of what will soon be an oxbow lake, cut off from the river channel.
Head high over a Quitman County wheat field. No geese here.
Turning for a run on a deer feeder. We marked this spot for November.
Between chopper's and duckter's duck holes. Fellas, what were all of those piles of yellow stuff around the blinds? Strange..hmmm.
If anybody wants to look at your duckhole to see where the water is or where the blind needs to be, holler at me. Now is a good time with the leaves off of the trees and the water still up in some places.

I'll drive an hour to get the plane and an hour back home you pay for the flight time. Cost right now is $97/hour; scheduled to go up in April, probably in the neighborhood of $120. I can haul about 350 pounds of folks, or 3 bodies (whichever is less) besides yours truly. You and me are gonna be a tight fit, Mark. You might have to ride on the luggage rack.
