Evangelical Leader Examines Obama's Religious Beliefs
Contact: Dane Rose, Faith and Action, 202-546-8329, ext 106, (703) 447-1072, DaneRose@FaithAndAction.org
WASHINGTON, Jan. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rev. Rob Schenck, President of the National Clergy Council and head of it’s affiliate, Faith and Action, a Washington, DC-based Christian outreach mission to policy-makers on Capitol Hill has released an in-depth examination of the religious beliefs of Sen. Barack Obama titled: "Barack Obama: Sheep or Goat?" The Illinois Democrat is being touted as a 2008 presidential candidate due in part to the perception that he can win the support of values voters. Obama has openly discussed his faith in his writings and media appearances, suggesting that it will guide him in policy decisions.
Rev. Schenck traces the development of Sen. Obama’s religious views from being the son of a Muslim father and a secular humanist mother to his current close association with a liberal United Church of Christ denomination. Through the Senator’s own written and spoken words, Schenck discovers that Obama is anything but an Evangelical Christian. Schenck is a board member of the Evangelical Church Alliance, America's oldest association of Evangelical clergy and chair of its committee on church and society.
Schenck points to Obama’s positions on key issues that are at variance with Evangelical beliefs, in particular:
- Rejection of the plenary authority and centrality of the Bible
- Support for abortion in all its forms including partial birth abortion
- Support for same-sex unions
In November 2006, Rev. Schenck criticized mega-church Pastor Rick Warren’s invitation to Sen. Obama to speak at his church. Schenck warned that Obama’s appearance in an Evangelical pulpit would be seen as an endorsement of the politician’s “liberal religiosity†as well as his ambitions for higher office.
Rev. Schenck discusses how quickly “Obama-mania†has penetrated the Evangelical community. His article hopes to determine whether Sen. Obama is the “real deal†or yet another cynical attempt by a political party to woo Evangelicals, asking for their votes without supporting their values.
Rev. Schenck can be reached for further comment through his assistant Dane Rose at (202) 546-8329, Ext. 106, (703) 447-1072 or via email at DaneRose@FaithAndAction.org.

He is on the ticket, news, etc. simply because of the race card.
He may be the greatest leader ever. However, he is in 1st term in congress, the rest....
HIGH< HIGH> $$$$ groups are pushing (leading) him through the ranks at WARP....speed. Including the media.
Don't require a racist to see what I said. H$ll it is wide open.

I don't know all of the facts about Obama...I am sure that there will be urban legends floating around that are not true, and some will be true. Just listening to him is enough for me not to vote for him.
However, all of the media build up and hoopla is nothing more than fodder for the runnin of Billary for president. Obama cannot win, the dems know it and the medie knows it. However, he is flashy and charismatic and captures attention. He is a perfect running mate for Clinton as the VP. He is currently down by as much as 20 percentage points to Hillary in polls. Unless something unforseen happens, Hillary is the Dem nominee and Obama will be on her ticket. She will be portrayed as a unifier by joining forces with him.
Mark my words, against Gulliani, McCain, or Romney, Hillary will win. The only hope that I see for a Republican president is Newt Gingrich. Some believe his past with a nasty divorce and rumored adultry will come back to haunt him, however, his dirty laundry was aired out long ago. If he runs, he will win. He is waiting until September to decide. He may decide not to run in 08', in which case Hillary will win and the result will be the worst 4 year presidential run in history. He runs in 2012, wins and is viewed as the best president since Reagan in lifting us out of the third Clinton term.
Side note: Notice that Hillary has called for all troops to be withdrawn from a war she voted for by 08. You think that is a coincidence? She wants nothing to do with running a war, therefore wants it gone by the time she takes office. How convenient. She will sacrifice the well being of the country for her own convenience. Sadly, many Americans will never notice what she is doing. The same goes for the Dems, they want troop withdrawal so they don't have to deal with the 800 lb. gorilla in the room, not because it is what is best for the country, but because it is convenient. They would rather cuddle with the Muslims who desire to spread their religion through violence as centuries of history indicates. They want to give amnesty to illegals who break our laws. Everything is relative with liberals and when you assign relativism a moral value, you are in trouble. However, once again it is convenient for the liberals to have relativism as a moral value because they never have to take responsibility for anything as it is all relative.
Sorry for the know-it-all rant...
