How are the doves looking in the delta and the north part of the state? Is anyone starting to see a pretty good build up?

Some of the sunflower fields I have seen are loaded. Jumping them off the gravel roads and the high wires are full of them.

spent the entire day yesterday bush-hoggin and discing fields.. several doves but hard to say at this time... most of my work was in the hot of the day and hard to tell any numbers... hopefully it will be a good year...

Riding backroads a week ago around valley park and saw a lot of birds on the gravel roads and light lines. The majority of the corn had not been cut so its hard to say how many were around.

I don't know where they came from, but i saw quite a few in the marsh today. Went fishin' and then lookin' for teal. Didn't see any teal, but sure saw a lot of doves and a few of what I imagine were those rock doves you all are talking about. They kinda look like pidgeons from a distance, but when they get closer they are a dove. Big ol' birds aint they.

Played golf yesterday in Olive Branch...droves of doves everywhere flying the tree lines and power lines.

A 20 ga. instead of my driver would have been big fun. Would have had a better chance at a birdie.

I've got a field with wheat/sunflowers full of doves, have been for a month now. Just cutting one strip of wheat every week to keep the doves there.

Jeff, The ringneck dove that has migrated from the Carribean up through Fla. and into the SE is larger than a morning dove and smaller than a pigeon aka Rockdove. They are getting to be common in some states and will count against your limit, while in other states they aren`t considered a game bird. (No season-no limit) Best get the info about legality from your local DNR....
