Federal money used to create boat ramps on private lakes?
I've never heard of such. My tax money used to create a boat ramp on a lake I'm told is not public.

I'm lost. What's the point??? There's nothing that says it's private, or that the lake is private, or that the public can't launch and fish there. In fact, it says just the opposite. Who's saying I can't go fishing there???Someone 'splain, please.

It has been the policy of th YMDLB Since the 1950's that there is no public hunting on levee board land. The lake is not a public lake. In order for a lake to be public it must be accessible from public land the levee is not public land. We have always allowed public fishing on levee board land but not hunting. The north or far side of the lake is AR.. and is owned by Miller Point hunting club. The levee board land extends to the bank and not shooting is allowed 200 feet from that point. And in most cases the AR.. line is not in the middle but comes closer than 200 feet to the south side. Mr lewis nor any one else has (payed us off ) I don't work that cheep. Also simply because a law has not been enforced in the pass dose not mean it is not the law. The levee board is not in the business to arrest people but to protect the levee. But be advised that if you go onto levee board property or 200 'from the toe of the levee to hunt you are breaking the law and you can be charged.

Note that the law says no hunting 200 feet from the TOE, not the bank. Here is the law, not hearsay:
SEC. 97-15-27. Hunting or target practice on levees.
If any person shall hunt or engage in target practice upon the mainline levee structure erected by any board of levee commissioners, the entire landside right-of-way of said levee structure or the riverside right-of-way of said levee structure within a distance of two hundred (200) feet from the toe of said levee structure, such person or persons shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, shall be fined not less than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for each offense.
