I remember back in the mid-90's they were so bad in the cotton, you could walk outside and hear them munching - wasn't a good year at harvest.

falls wont eat the vegetation, beet armyworms, however will. The bad thing about falls in a cotton field is that you'll never see them there, they start on the bottom and work their way up eating the bolls, then on to the next plant. There are several different types of armyworms, and if you say massive vegetation loss in a cotton field it was probably the beets.

however, when given a nice lush food plot w/ lots of nitrogen on it the falls will tear it up too.
