The thing is with HRC and started.....it's not just bringing folks into the HRC but to dog games in general. And that's good for everybody, but AKC'ers would never admitt that if HRC did away with started it would have an impact on the growth of dog games, simply b/c first timers would not keep coming back weekend after weekend if they started out in a season level event. The few AKC hunts I have attended have been full of folks who got into this stuff through HRC.

All that being said, I don't think it should be a giv-me. Started should be a true test of a young dog in a hunting situtation. I have seen a few that I thought were a little too cheesy and one or two that was probably more than was needed.
