I love the calcutta but the cardiff is the same reel at a way cheaper price tag. We called Shimano when they first came out, they said it was the same reel they just needed one to sell at a cheaper price without hurting the calcutta reputation.

I went to Stella this year and love them. Always used Daiwa before. Daiwa is a little more saltwater friendly though. VanStal makes a hellava good saltwater reel but its pricey, too. I'm left-handed. They have not made a left handed model until recently. The good thing about VanStal is that it is totally waterproof. You can totally submerge the reel and not get water in the casing. That's a real plus for saltwater. You have to clean it only once a year.
