No persons shall take migratory game birds:

(c) From or by means, aid, or use of a sinkbox or any other type of
low floating device, having a depression affording the hunter a means of
concealment beneath the surface of the water;

Sinkboxes, from what I understand, are boxes in the middle of a lake that can be cranked down with a mechanism so that only a lip is above the water level. They are legal in Canada and for some reason I want to say in the Mississippi Sound.

Pit blinds, although much the same principle, are permanently buried in the ground in a field.

That is a good question and one I have often wondered about. I'm still not exactly sure why a pit is legal when a sinkbox is not. I think it has to do with the sinkbox being a floating device with which you can "submerge" your entire body. A layout boat is legal because you are not actually submerged. A pit is legal because you're buried, not submerged in a floating device. At least that's how I understand it.

What if the depth of your layout is say 10 inches and you put it in water that is 9 inches? Is that considered a sink box. I'm always scared to put my coffin blind in water like that, it could swamp in an instant. Anybody on here know if that's legal or not?
