I've been VIOLATED!

Postby Micah » Thu Jul 26, 2001 5:46 pm

Got a call from the wife about 12:30 today. Seems some "illegitimate child"(s) decided to take possesion of some of our belongings while I was gone to work and she was at school.

They took my Browning A-500 <hides the tears>, my wifes stereo, $300 in cash, and two weed eaters. Funny thing is they left the TV's and VCR.

I just don't feel safe any more. We live on a busy highway; it must take some balls to break in. I'm just glad that the wife wasn't here alone. What the hell do you do?

Anyone have any suggestions? Have any of you guys had similar experiences? What would or did you do?

**** all the worthless crack heads out there!

Micah -

I am so sorry to hear this!! That has to be the worst feeling in the world!

I hated to do it but I went ahead and spent the money on a heavy safe for my guns, cash, jewelry (the wife's real stuff), etc. It's too late for that now, but I hope that catch those ba@#$rds!

Micah, I am also very sorry to hear this happen to you. What I would do is look in the yellow pages and go to every pawn shop in the area, the stuff will turn up, especially the gun. During the Christmas Break my buddies at MSU had their house broken into and took a bunch of stuff, tv's, guns, etc. and everything turned up about a month later at different pawn shops. And am I to believe that no one in your neighborhood didn't see anything???

Man I hate that,
These sorry baste#@ take without any regard of how long it took that person to work to buy those items.

The only suggestion that I have is to get a alarm system the dang things are not that exspensive anymore and you don't have to get one that has a monthly monitoring system. It can just raise he11 when someone sets it off and they won't stick around.
Next is buy a safe. I have done both and it is really a good feeling to know that I can leave the house and not worry about some jerk ripping me off.

Sorry for your loss, invest that $1600.00 and get those two items you'll feel better for it.

Another Thing Micah,
A cop once told me that if someone breaks into your house and didn't take much that it is a good chance that they will visit again.

He said they will remember all they saw and will usually make another visit after everything cools off.

Just thought ya might want to know their habits.

Micah - really sorry to hear about that. Glad to hear no one was harmed. I think Duckmen's last point is a very good one. Hope your belongings turn up and they catch the crooks!

That's what I'm afraid of.....I think of the things that they didn't take, and it makes me very uncomfortable to know that the bastards know what all I have. Next time they need some cash, I'm a good target for them.

I thought about the alarm, but I'm also looking at bars and security doors. The county seat is in Indianola (30 minutes away) so the alarm won't do me much good in getting the cops here, although it will make some noise. I guess I can hook up this alarm I have without the monitoring and get the same effect eh?

I just feel "used" at the moment, and I don't have the money to spend to protect myself adequately. Hell, I don't even have renters insurance at the moment.

a dam sad situation Micah... hate to hear it and trust me i know how you feel... have been there before and it pissed me off to know someone was in my house... a true sign of being violated... i'm sure you have notified the proper authorities and all you can do is wait...sounds as tho they knew what they wanted, unless you left an a-500 in plain view along with weedeaters and all... may be kids on their first raid or never rule out the fact of a friend or family.. sad to say, the later was my prowler... good luck to you and the wife... like a bad day at the casino, give her a hug, kiss and an i love you, she knows you will protect her with all your might.... good luck my friend....

it wouldn't do for him to come before me.....

Sorry to read about your bad situation. Ever think about getting a dog. My wife and I came home late one night and we could hear our dogs going berzerk in the house when we got out of the car. It seems that a guy had figured he could handle a dog with a hammer so in he came. I guess he didn't count on two dogs and although he made it out of the house it looked like someone had stuck a pig in there with all the blood. I called the police and when they saw the blood they went up to the emergency room and promptly arrested the guy as he was getting some of his 40 stitches in his arms and legs. Sometimes everything comes together the way it should. Our dogs in the house are german shepards and are perfect with my little nephews and people they know but get a little ugly when they are alone.

Our farm shop kept getting broken into back home, we installed alarm didn't work, we installed special locks etc..didn't work.
Could not figure out why? Then like judgejb said it was a family friend who knew exactly what to take and how to take it.
I'd install an alarm even without monitoring get the loudest one you can find, we used one off a car, it will most likely scare them away, get it wired into some outdoor and indoor lights so they flash as well.(won't do any good in the daylight but will work good at night!!
And sadly buy a gun safe, I bought a beautiful antique gun cabinet years back that I used to proudly display my guns in , but I got scared with all the thieves and bought this big ugly ass safe to use.
Sorry to hear about it.

Luke (my overly friendly lab) was in his kennel in the room where the crooks entered. We can't let him have the run of the house due to a chewing problem related to separation anxiety (can't help it my dog misses me that much). Can't sai I believe that he would be much of a guard dog anyways....he might get in their way or lick 'em to death though.

I just pulled out my alarm from my office in Oxford (still making payments on it of course), and I'll be installing it very soon.
