Bow Season

Postby Dutch Dog » Wed Sep 07, 2005 9:01 am

Well guys, looks like there is only about 3 weeks left until bow-season opens. Are any of y'all already shooting broadheads? I haven't started yet, but plan on starting here in the next couple of days. At least setting one up and shooting it...just to see. I haven't gotten a chance to scout yet either...since deer club is 2+ hours away. I really need to get down there pretty bad, but just don't have the time and gas prices are also a factor. I know where I want to hunt, just not the exact tree. I can pinpoint that with 30 minutes to an hour of looking. Lets hear what point you are at...shooting broadheads yet, scouting success, found any trees dropping yet etc.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

i'm like you i know where i'm going to hunt just haven't found the tree yet. Did some scouting the day after katrina came through. Saw a few spot's the "looked" good but hadn't really been back to see what's going on. I didn't notice if the tree's where dropping but will found out this weekend.

If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

Started broadheads last week. Have a practice set of G-5's, and a hunt set of new G-5's. Put a new string on my bow, so MANY adjustments were needed.

Persimmons are plentyful, and starting to drop.

Have hung 5 loc-ons, and have 5 other hot spots ready. (only 1 persimmon stand)

I have been shooting broadheads for three weeks at least 40 times a day..ruined lots of arrows but if you had seen the bucks i have in a bean field you would shoot everyday too.. so far beans have been the only thing i have found the deer to be working.. my birthday is the 1st so i will be there way before day break..
