Gas panic in Delta

Postby missed mallards » Tue Aug 30, 2005 8:52 pm

I just got off of the phone with my brother and he said the gas stations are packed. He said everyone was in a panic that there was a gas shortage and where maxing out there gas tanks. one guy had a truck load full of gas can's filling them up. $200 dollars in gas. This is around greenville, ms. I hope this isn't the case. good thing i can walk to school and work. i'm hopeing it's just panic. I filled her up yesterday and two gas can's for a generator all for 79 buckaroos.

Had to have it.

Just figured ya'll would love to read this.

I certainly hope there isn't any price gouging going on. We have had a couple of instances here in the Memphis area with ice and severe weather that have shut the city down. They came down pretty hard on those found to be gouging the price of gas. Me, personally, I would sell it a little cheaper, but limit the amount available to allow everyone a chance to get it. People would remember that and more than likely return in the future to give you their business. I would never patronize a place again that gouged prices in time of need.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I was at Walmart in Clarksdale yesterday. About 30 of those 5 gallon gas cans in the auto dept. Supervisor called today to tell me he had already been to 2 walmarts and couldn't find a can. I went back to Clarksdale and there were 2 left.

I heard it's supposed to be at $3/gallon shortly.

average is hanging around $2.60 in Dallas right now...I am surprised to see it staying at that level. Time to tap into the nation's reserves until we can get domestic production back up. 30% of the nations supply has been impacted. This is the emergency that the feds were holding out for.

gas

I'm in Jackson as well. I hope the problem is that some stations do not have power yet. I will be in trouble if this panic continues. I waited about 25 minutes for gas in a rural area. Owner said they were running bone dry while I was pumping. One car down, one to go.

President today allowed release of oil from the strategic oil reserve. News reports oil prices dropped immediately when he did this.

Everybody stay calm and act like decent folks at the gas pump. It'll get better.
